Justice Edwin Cameron was a judge from 1994 to 2019, who served six years as inspecting judge of prisons after stepping down from the Constitutional Court. He has authored two prize-winning memoirs (Witness to AIDS and Justice: A Personal Account). His third book, coauthored with two colleagues from the prisons inspectorate, Rebecca Gore and Sohela Surajpal, Behind Prison Walls: Unlocking a Safer South Africa, was recently published.
