Sohela Surajpal co-authored Behind Prison Walls while working as a law clerk and researcher at the Judicial Inspectorate for Correctional Services. Before that, she clerked at the Constitutional Court of South Africa, worked on LGBTQ+ rights at the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria, and obtained a Master of Law in Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa. Sohela is currently a candidate attorney in Johannesburg.
